Scotland
Scotland is my home whereas India is my second home and Greece my third! This lovely little country welcomes all visitors to its Highlands and Lowlands. Its winding rivers and beautiful valleys are filled with ancient castles and ruined medieval towers that speak of a time when the Clans of Scotland were powerful, and their endless infighting nearly destroyed the nation. I am very loyally British and believe wholeheartedly in the United Kingdom, but my forbears played their part in Scotland’s history and then coupled with that in India when it was part of the British Empire; the Scots Diaspora went far and wide throughout the world. Scotland is well known with bagpipes and music, history and literature, but it will always speak of its tumultuous past through the heritage of its ancient buildings and ruins. Scotland has Edinburgh as her capital, which is a magnificent small city and welcomes visitors warmly with its annual great Festival and countless other events like Hogmanay, New Year’s Eve. We have wonderful Edinburgh Castle, Palace of Holyrood House, the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, the former beloved yacht of HM The Queen the Britannia at Leith; a fabulous National Museum of Scotland, the National Galleries of Art, St Giles Cathedral (where I was married 50 years ago) the beautiful Bridges across the Forth River and countless other attractions, plus some wonderful restaurants and bistros offering a broad spectrum of global cuisines. I live south of Edinburgh in the glorious Scottish Borders which also has castles, mansions, salmon rivers and botanical gardens. Likewise, the Highlands offer all that and magnificent scenery and wildlife. So make your way to Bonnie Scotland by car, rail, cruise ship or plane and discover this lovely land. The Land of Great History, Tartans, Whiskies, Gins, Golf, and Woollen finery and gracious hospitality, and when you have come and are sadly leaving we will say … Haste Ye Back!.
